Step-by-Step Guide to the Update System
This guide will take you step-by-step through the Update System.
1. Launching the Update System
Open the update system using the shortcut in the start menu or through the options menu.
2. The Main Menu
This is the main screen of the Update System. If you are using a proxy on the network we will have to configure the Update System to use it. When no proxy is required, click 'Next' and skip to step 4.
3. Proxy Setup
You may have to contact your ISP (Internet Service Provide) or network administrator for these settings. The Update System only support HTTP proxies, no authorization. Enter the details and click 'Test Proxy' to check. A message box denoting 'Proxy test successful!' or failure will be displayed.
The Update System now contacts 'update.seismovision.net' to retrieve the Seismovision 3 Update Index. This will just take a few seconds. The screen will automatically advance upon completion.
5. Select Update
Here you can make a choice of available update. Critical or recommended updates are selected automatically for you. To select a update, click on the box left of the update name. A check box appears. Do the same to deselect an update and check mark disappears. To view information about an update, click on the name of the update and a short description will appear below the list. The size of the selected update is shown in the top right. You can close the Update System at any time by clicking 'Close'. When your selection has been made, click 'Next'.
6. Downloading Updates
All the update you selected are being downloaded. The process make take some time depending on your connection. If the progress bar stops for a long time, close the Update System and try again. After all update are download, the Update System checks the download integrity. Once it passes, the updates will be installed. Some update may require you to make some choices. The Update System may also ask you to restart your computer once all updates are installed.
The update system does not transmit any personal data to the server. Only data is downloaded and download request are sent.
